Specialising in women’s health and wellbeing, weight loss & virtual gastric band, anxiety, phobias, trauma, relationship counselling.
Everyone has an innate sense of what is best for them and possesses the skills and resources needed for change. However, these tools can sometimes be difficult to recognize, and we may ignore our inner voice until it's validated by someone else.
We all have different aspects within us, and it can be challenging to decide which part to listen to. Through a compassionate and holistic approach, I guide and support people in discovering their own voices and making the choices that are truly right for them.

Silvana Forlini is a Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist specializing in anxiety, trauma, weight loss, women’s wellbeing, phobias, chronic pain, and relationship counseling. Born in Argentina, Silvana migrated to Australia in 1997 and worked in Education & Training with migrant and refugee communities for 15 years. She later pursued a Master's in Counseling & Psychotherapy, and has trained in Clinical Hypnotherapy and EMDR Therapy.
Her upbringing in South America and professional experiences in rural Australia have instilled in her a deep empathy for those facing life's challenges. Silvana believes that emotions are the driving force for change and that everyone possesses the skills and resources necessary to propel personal growth. She emphasizes the importance of a sense of belonging for maintaining physical and mental health, as strong social ties provide resilience, support, and meaning in life. Reflecting her philosophical and therapeutic approach to resilience, Silvana often quotes Viktor Frankl: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances.”
Silvana combines her personal experiences and therapeutic training to help clients shift their emotional states and lead fulfilling lives. Her practice includes a friendly and safe approach that encourages exploring personal values and setting realistic goals. She uses various counseling techniques, educates clients on treatment options, incorporates hypnosis, and utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address traumatic memories, chronic pain, and fears.
In addition to her clinical work, Silvana volunteers with the Latin American Society of South Australia (LASSA) as a community connector for the Multicultural Men Mental Health Community Connections program. This project, supported by MCCSA, helps men from diverse backgrounds understand mental health complexities and develop strategies to reduce isolation and enhance resilience and wellbeing. She also delivers workshops and lectures to health and government-funded organizations.
In her free time, she enjoys paddleboarding, trekking, and cooking.

I practice integrative psychotherapy by combining hypnotherapy with other therapeutic approaches to facilitate long-term, lasting changes. This process works by helping individuals connect with their inner advisor, allowing shifts in perception to occur naturally and effortlessly.
Hypnosis involves a state of focused relaxation, similar to a dream state, where people individuals find it easier to change their self-talk, habits, or undesired physical and psychological responses to situations. During hypnosis, you feel relaxed and calm, and your mind becomes open to new possibilities. Hypnosis can be particularly effective for weight loss, chronic pain management, reducing symptoms of anxiety and IBS, and overcoming phobias.
EMDR therapy is primarily used to process trauma. While fully alert and conscious during EMDR sessions, clients engage in a series of eye movements that help the brain produce different thoughts, images, and sensations, quickly desensitizing old painful triggers. EMDR is also used for managing chronic pain, phobias, and "flash forward" imagery that causes dread and anxiety.

Anxiety is a natural response of the body to external events, often rooted in a future projection of potential negative outcomes. Our minds create images, stories, and scenarios that we tend to believe, triggering the body's fight, flight, or freeze response as a protective mechanism. Since anxiety manifests physically, addressing it involves treating the body as well.
Your weight gain might be a recent development or something you've struggled with for years. You might have tried every diet and celebrity-endorsed product available, only to find that none of them truly work. Perhaps you find it challenging to stay motivated to make a change. We all know that diets often fail because they involve some form of deprivation. The Virtual Gastric Band is not a diet; it is a 4-week program designed to change the way you think about food, reset your eating habits, and increase your motivation to exercise.
The Virtual Gastric Band program was created by Sheila Granger in the UK and has been recognized by the International Medical and Dental Hypnosis Association. The program includes education on healthy eating habits, four hypnotherapy sessions, a daily recording to support your journey, and a personalized recording that you can continue to use.
I’m passionate about empowering women to take control of their health and restore balance to their overall wellbeing. As women, we navigate cycles of change, transformation, and growth throughout our lives. From birth, our bodies evolve, and we experience changes in our physical appearance, our ability to create life, and our efforts to balance various aspects of ourselves.
Later in life, we face additional changes, sometimes in a not so gentle way. Factors such as caring for others, maintaining social connections, and making healthy lifestyle choices all play a role in influencing our longevity. Our mindsets significantly impact the choices we make, affecting our control over our lives, health, and destiny.
By reframing situations and using simple, effective tools and techniques, you can transition from a state of discomfort to one of calm and safety. Whether you need support with enhancing general wellbeing, anxiety management, weight loss, or navigating aging, you can learn to cultivate a more confident and empowered version of yourself.
Chronic pain arises when the brain creates emergency signals that are too frequent and intense. While pain typically serves to protect the body from harm, when it persists beyond the healing period, it functions like an alarm system stuck on “high alert.” This constant pain can lead to anxiety, helplessness, and even depression, impacting both your relationship with your body and your interactions with others.
If you suffer from chronic pain, you are not alone — 3.5 million people in Australia live with this condition. The most effective and sustainable pain management approach combines education about pain, movement, diet, and hypnotherapy. This integrative strategy helps the brain recalibrate and reduce “pain” signals, leading to decreased anxiety, less negative self-perception, and increased confidence. Hypnotherapy for chronic pain management empowers you to regain control of your life.
Have you noticed that cycle, the awful feeling of not being heard, understood, or validated, even though you are screaming the same words over and over? Sometimes relationships fall into a negative pattern. During sessions we can work together through those issues, and you can learn communication skills and soothing techniques to improve your relationship.
The Gottman Method Couples Therapy follows the Sound Relationship House Theory. This form of couple’s therapy can help you and your partner move forward by learning skills for intimate communication, increasing respect and affection, and designing and updating your relationship at different stages of your life. By integrating principles from the Gottman Method with evidence-based interventions, I aim to help you build thriving relationships.
Or you can choose to use hypnosis, which helps in changing internal perceptions and connect with your partner’s needs.

About Hypnosis
Hypnosis can be an effective
method to cope with depression,
stress and anxiety.
Hypnosis involves achieving a state of deep focused relaxation that induces a feeling of calmness and peace. This state enhances your capacity to deal with anxiety, pain, and behavioral changes that no longer benefit you. Throughout hypnosis sessions, you maintain complete control, which leaves you with a great sense of self-empowerment.
It can assist with:
Anxiety / panic attacks
Fears
Life transitions
Anger management
Side effects of chemotherapy
Chronic pain
Managing IBS symptoms
Relationship challenges
Pre and Post Operative
Resolving Trauma
with EMDR
A traumatic event refers to any experience in which a person is exposed to a threatening or harmful occurrence. The brain stores the emotions and physical responses experienced during the traumatic event in a sensory format. Unlike non-traumatic memories that are perceived as being in the past, traumatic memories are relived, causing the person to re-experience the event.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy method that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
During EMDR, the eye movements produce a pattern of electrical activity in the brain, which appears to change the trauma memory to become less vivid. After treatment, clients often report that the memory feels quite distant.

No, you do not need a referral to see me.
-
Counsellors/psychotherapists don’t have a Medicare provider number, which means you don’t need to get a doctor’s referral to see me. This facilitates the quick booking process. There’s no waiting list.
Often the rebate from Medicare still leaves a significant gap after paying a Psychiatrist/Psychologist account, and I have found that the net out of pocket is almost the same as my fees.
I still communicate with your GP and other practitioners to update them about your progress.
-
There are no side effects to hypnotherapy. If in doubt, I always ask your GP if it is ok for us to start working together.
-
You need to check with your PHF to see if they cover counselling. I am registered with Medibank Private, BUPA, AHM, Doctors’ Health Fund, Teachers Health and Police Health
